MassaPassa Paul White

by MullOverThis

Only in the celebrity church age will a prestigious Board of Bishops select a senior pastor for a well-established mega church, who CANNOT pastor full-time.  Yep, you heard it right here on MullOverThis. Paula White has an international ministry, tapes television for daily broadcasts, pastors another mega church and now adds  New Destiny Christian Center to her list of to-do’s.

Out of all of the people in the world-I mean think about this-who are qualified to shepherd a flock of believers, Paula White gets the appointment.  Would you be shocked to know that hhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmhhhhhhhhhh  MassaPassa Paula White was on the committee designated to find an appropriate leader?  No need to get wide-eyed over this, she was “objectively” looking for a pastor for the New Destiny Christian Center in conjunction with her croonies.

See, celebrity pastors shepherd effectively knowing they will never be available to mount the pulpit each Sunday, more or less know Jesus’ sheep.  That is what these “wise” leaders believe.  A woman who may show up twice each month because she has to split her time between another mega church-and if anybody thinks Massa Passa is going to regard NDCC more than the work she founded, go ahead and eat some of Ms. Abilene’s chocolate pie (The Help)-is not a “good” senior pastor for thousands of people who just may need to see their pastor more than twice a month between her helicopter rides, and correspondence with key NDCC staff. God forbid the Holy Spirit attempt to move during a service and bust up the television taping schedule and keep Passa’s helicopter pilot waiting.  We can’t afford these kinds of interruptions when we’re reaching the lost for Christ on a schedule that helps keep the cha ching ding sound in place.

In celebrity churches, the Bible is the blueprint that the people “work” to get big fat paychecks.  A church whose former pastor allegedly died from drugs and exemplified a “torn” heinous lifestyle which prompted him to stop his co-founding pastor wife from setting her foot on their church property, needs a pastor who will seek God for NDCC.  NDCC needs a pastor who is committed to that work, not fifteen other competing interests.  When the crux of pastoring is in scheduling programs, services and flying in two to three times a month, we all need to be crying out for the Lord’s return as soon as possible.  If this is what God’s will is, then we all need to just look to the skies and hope Jesus cracks them and ushers us home.

The members of NDCC should know what people who give each other Bentley’s for gifts thought of them.  They thought so much of them and their money, not their needs, that they assigned someone who probably would admit she was not capable of adding full-time care for two teenagers to her schedule, but could care for thousands of spiritual children as their most significant spiritual leader in between photo shoots and winks at the camera.

While Massa Passa’s endorsers have drunkenly proclaimed that she knows how to build a church, I’m sure people who have been re-routed to other ministries wonder if Massa Passa’s croonies have checked into the church she pastored and closed, allegedly due to financial struggles.

Welcome to the celebrity corporate church age.

Shame on Paula White & Her Croonies

by MullOverThis

Check this out:  Paula White and her former husband, Randy, divorced.  Randy pastored their mega church.  After the mega was going minor, clearly Paula came back and assumed the role as Senior Pastor.  She is the one with the world-wide ministry and “name”.

Zachary and Riva Tims divorce.  They were at some point in time, allegedly a son and daughter of Paula White when they were still married and co-pastored the NDCC.  Upon the divorce, Riva Tims was not permitted to come to the NDCC.  Go figure, because she helped to plant and water that ministry.  Nonetheless, the drug-addicted world-galavanting pastor passed away, with the public awaiting a toxicology report.  For what? To see if “Zach” laid down as opposed to “Pastor Zachery”, according to the illustrious split-personalities Bishop TD Jakes introduced at Tims’ funeral to try to Biblically justify the NDCC pastor’s heinous lifestyle?  Normally viral cheating husbands who spend boat-loads of money on trips with women and drugs aren’t our ideal men.  Only when one hosts TBN, has a bunch of high-profile ministry friends and a big church does this “type” become a poor hero.

Anyway, NDCC church board members don’t even meet with the other church founder, Pastor Riva Tims, in appointing a successor.  They continue in the spirit of their former pastor who banned his ex-wife from her pastoral role at NDCC.

Clear-cut message folks:  Riva was banned from NDCC because of personal issues.  Do I need to type the obvious conclusion, here?  They put her out of the way, and now who is out of the way?  NDCC needs a new leader and Paula White comes to save the day.  What makes Paula White think someone who had that church in her vision, labored and spent years of her life to build for the Lord shouldn’t even be afforded a meeting?  The same Paula White that went back to Without Walls and salvaged her works that she put her life into?  Oh, yeah.  I’m sure it’s the same Paula White.

Although church leadership and successorship isn’t based upon natural lineage because Christ’s lineage as the High Priest to the Body of Christ after the order of Melchizedic undoes this concept (there is no traceable biological lineage), clearly, when God has called, equipped, prepared, ordained and released one to serve as a leader in planting and shepherding, His will isn’t a board room decision.

Paula White needs to go somewhere and have a seat.  I suggest it not be NDCC.  For months, the church parishioners have stated they want their “Mother” back.  Paula needs to step out of the way and the Board of Directors at NDCC need to let Riva Tims be restored to a ministry that she has had the LIFE to lead.  This matter shouldn’t have ever arrived at the point where Riva has to sue to be reinstated as NDCC leader.

An Open Letter to Creflo Dollar

by MullOverThis

Thank you, Creflo, for revealing your feelings and suggested guidance for New Birth members who left Bishop Eddie Long and New Birth.  In doing so, you have also revealed a tremendous problem with the “Doc” syndrome and the boys club amongst pastors/preachers.   Please know that the problem has been forewarned to the Body of Christ in the Word of God, so many of us are not alarmed. Some of us are merely disappointed but will continue to be loyal to God, not the loyal to manipulative “game” Docs engage in, as demonstrated in your plea for New Birth members to forgive your friend.

First of all, Mr. Dollar, church loyalty from parishioners should never be based upon who is your friend, or not your friend.  THE BIG ESSENCE OF CREFLO DOLLAR and who you decide is friend-worthy does not credential or validate whether or not sound people with sound minds should pledge their allegiance to a pompous man who has not demonstrated a modicum of humility to the people of whom you expect loyalty. Pay attention Grand Super Doc, Creflo.  Your friend may still be going to heaven and is human just like the rest of us.  But, before he gets to heaven, he’s got some explaining to do to the Body of Christ.  When your super-buffed and wilfully dressed to show it friend cut the fool enough for him to squirmishly admit he wasn’t perfect, he admitted that there is some stuff going on.  We’d rather not have to know it, but since it amounted to lawsuits, Super Grand Doc, and he is supposed to be a Bishop, you know how this is supposed to work.

Re-post: me Me ME MEEEEEEEEE!

by MullOverThis

Nope, I’m not warming up for a vocal audition. I’m warming up for this blog entry. So okay people, here we go……………

While reading Matthew 13 today, I stumbled across a passage I’ve read a million times. The familiar passage was about a farmer sowing grain and what happens to the seed when it falls on different types of ground. What struck me most was the following in verse 22:

The thorny ground represents those who hear and accept the Good News, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares of this life and the lure of wealth, so no crop is produced.

Today it had new meaning as God used the aforementioned passage to answer a burning question I had on my heart, which was why, despite such displays of power and promises of prosperity, a certain brand of Christianity didn’t seem to truly reflect Biblical Christianity. To be extremely honest, I have a major concern with the sector of the faith that primarily focuses on prosperity, miracles, and blessings…all the time. While I am a firm believer in all of those and believe in the power of the Holy Spirit, I could not understand why despite all of the supposed displays of God’s power, the scales seemed to tip heavily on the side of gifts and light on the side of fruit. This is as opposed to churches which preach more on Christ and the kingdom and in turn seem to be more progressive in character. So where is Waldo in this? The disparity could be due to the fact that a Christ-centered gospel has been replaced with a Me-centered gospel.

What was made clear to me was that when we begin to look to God primarily to fix all of our problems and give us all that we want, we begin to crowd out, as Matthew 13:22 says, the Good News. This constant need to have the perfect life and be happy (not to be confused with joy which is not circumstantial), this constant need to have every single prayer answered with a yes, this continual need to give an offering in church to get something monetary in return versus understanding it is our obligation to support the work of Christ, causes us to crowd out the Good News and thus no crop is produced. Don’t mistake the expected crop for new cars and houses, wives and husbands, lions, tigers and bears (oh my!). That crop is the fruit we must bear to demonstrate the power of a transforming gospel. That crop is a renewed mind and the power to walk in that newness to show people the way of Christ.

When we serve God to meet our needs instead of meeting His needs, we have it backwards, and that is why we can sit under what we call the anointing, have an emotional experience, always talk about miracles and blessings, then go home and nothing inside of us has changed.  Some of us live day-to-day in disappointment because nothing spectacular has happened or no one has given us a self-aggrandizing prophecy when that is not the daily reality we are called to. According to Matthew 23:37-40, God wants us to live this way:

… “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the other commandments and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

All the other commandments hinge on those two? Wow, they must be important! The key word is love, which the Bible says is the mark of a true Christian, not your bank account, not having everything the way you want it, and not being puffed up in pride because you have access to the pastor (who has a life outside of the congregation by the way!). None of those things are impressive and none of those things guarantee spending eternity with the Father. And when we put first things first, half of the things we call problems wouldn’t be problems because we would either own our wrongdoing and change the way we do things, or we would have a different perspective and handle our situations better on the front end. If we put first things first, we wouldn’t always need a miracle to do things people who don’t believe in Christ do as second nature. We would learn that everything is not up in the sky and that the purpose of learning heavenly principles is to be an effective earthly example.

My dear friends, I hope you are not too offended by what I’ve written. I don’t want any of us to become like the Corinthians, flowing in gifts of every sort but bearing no fruit. I want you to live your best life and stop going in circles trying to have all of your problems magically solved. Take things one day at a time, let God transform you, seek His kingdom first, and when you take care of His business, He will take care of yours. And guess what people? THAT is prosperity!

Adios y Dios te bendiga!

*Disclaimer-I do not believe in taking a vow of poverty but  I also do not believe in taking a vow of greed. Over and out!

ON BENNY HINN AND PAULA WHITE

by MullOverThis

Reputedly, Benny and the Paula are “dating”.  This is only an allegation because there hasn’t been a public confirmation, at least YET. In the meantime, I choose to believe that the two recently “single” ministers are still alone working on themselves.

Two people, with an international following in Christiandom, recently divorced (is Benny’s divorce even final) and dating?  Let’s hope NOT.  Let’s hope that they have enough sense to WAIT because their desires and names are not above the reproach all of this grandiose spouse swapping will continue to bring on the Body of Christ.

Note to Benny & the Paula:  Not only does Paula not preach better than the Apostle Paul or one-quarter of store front church preachers, but if these friends cannot honor a marriage covenant before God and work out commitment to the one person who they said they loved, they need not try to lead the world in anything.  True leaders have to LEAD, even in difficult things-like a marriage and keeping covenant-and the Bible that they tote happens to clearly relay this principle.

WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE GRASSLEY SIX?

by MullOverThis

The following record was taken directly from Senator Grassley’s website, from an immediate press release dated March 26, 2009.

Transcription of Senator Grassley’s Capitol Hill Report

“QUESTION:  Along that line, Senator, have you — have your requests for information, financial information, from televangelists been completely satisfied?  There were one or two holdouts at one time.

GRASSLEY:  Those one or two are still holding out, and we haven’t decided yet to take the step of a subpoena.  But it looks to me like that’s what we’ll have to do.  We have had almost — by two others — almost a complete answer to what I would say would be a good judgment of some progress we’re making.  And that is that there’s an evangelical accounting board — and that’s not exactly its title.

But it’s kind a Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval for churches that are members of it to pledge to do certain things to make sure that their money is handled in a secure way as a trustee for the donors’ money.  And we’ve had two of these six have recently submitted themselves to this evangelical accounting board to make sure that they follow the law.

STAFF:  Thank you, Tom and Rick, for participating in today’s public affairs program.  This has been Senator Chuck Grassley reporting to the people of Iowa.”

UPDATE:  To date, there have not been any allegations of inappropriate oversight or IRS non-compliance levied against any of the Grassley Six.  Please review articles on this blog since December 2007 providing coverage.

TELEVANGELISTS WATCHDOG GROUP NEEDS WATCHING ITSELF

by MullOverThis

Creflo Dollar refuses to cow-tow to ole massa and hand over the requested documents to Senator Grassley and the Senate Finance Committee.

Yet, ole Anthony is available to answer what would Jesus do and say concerning the televangelists that he has spent decades surveilling.

But while he has been on the prowl, who has been watching him?  Please click the links below to see some questionable concerns about the Trinity Foundation.  Since Senator Grassley is concerned about not-for-profits and charitable donations, he would do well to pay his friend Ole Anthony a visit–and this time with a letter analagous to the ones sent to the Grassley Six.

Juanita Bynum on Divorce Court

by MullOverThis

In case you were wondering what her appearance was all about, check out the clips.

I have never seen divorce court spend so much air-time highlighting any special guests and their own lifestyles or issues.  So, this appearance is probably aimed at increasing the show’s ratings.

Whether or not Bynum’s appearance served ministerial purpose is really a question that only those who she spent time with can answer.  Nonetheless, I’m sure this won’t stop the philosophizers from philosphizing and waking up again tomorrow, having not demonstrated notable service outside of their own needs or interests to anyone else who has been substantially impacted by their lives.  Meanwhile, again Bynum has used her personal life experience to provide insight for someone else.

After being stomped by an unrepentant husband who still denies any real wrongdoing, it is easy for Bynum to identify with and tell another woman to love oneself enough to stop the domestic abuse before it cannot be curtailed.

TWO OF THE GRASSLEY SIX HAVE RESPONDED: Senator Max Baucus Backs Senator Grassley in Televangelist Probe

by MullOverThis

So far, Joyce Meyer and Benny Hinn have responded to Senator Grassley’s original letter requesting information from six televangelist ministries. Creflo Dollar, Eddie Long and Kenneth Copeland have not yet complied and appear to be challenging the jurisdiction of the Senate Finance Committee to make such inquiries. These three ministries, along with Paula White who agrees to cooperate, have been issued additional letters with the added authority of the Chairman of the committee, Senator Max Baucus. So if this were a schoolyard wrangle two decades ago, it looks like Senator Grassley’s got some “back” [fighting reinforcements]. The second letter sets forth the basis of jurisdiction for imposing such questions to the Grassley 6. The Senate Finance committee distinguishes its oversight from the IRS, as the IRS enforces already existing tax laws while this review deals with the effectiveness of tax-exempt policies in ministries. “We have an obligation to oversee how the tax laws are working for both tax-exempt organizations and taxpayers. Just like with reviews of other tax-exempt organizations in recent years, I look forward to the cooperation of these ministries in the weeks and months ahead.” [March 12, 2008 Press Release: Grassley, Baucus Urge Four Ministries To Cooperate With Information Request] The weight of Senator Baucus joining this probe imports a greater ability for the Senators to acquire subpeonas from the non-obliging ministries.
