Hilary Clinton Victim to Another Flying Shoe

by MullOverThis

Did this nincompoop actually throw a shoe at Hilary Clinton? You see what happens when lunatics grow up in a world where they are not taught to respect significant world changers?

Random thoughts:

1.  And to think, there would be a “whole lotta” men who would be roped in by that long blond hair. Look, nutjobs come with all shades of hair color.

2.  Hilary did not “dodge” the shoe. Clearly, she reacted to the footwear flying past her head.  Looky right ova here. Once she took that “swerve”, I can see that agility that probably has former President Bill Clinton hooked.

3.  I wonder what kind of shoe this woman forfeited. She must have really disliked the Mrs. Hilary Rodham Clinton to sacrifice a shoe.

4.  This is one instance in which I would have loved to see Hilary whack somebody. I would have looked the other way and reacted similarly to the way Mrs. Clinton did, AFTER I saw her “handle up” on the shoe-thrower as she did when the shoe flew past her skull.

5.  When the loose cannon sits in jail and hopefully gets a good dose of prison, she might want to think about what matters in the total scheme of life and get one.

Call for DNC to Deal Fairly

by MullOverThis

Lou Dobbs posed the question to his guests on today’s show, “WOULD EVERYONE HERE AGREE THAT THIS IS A BROKERED NOMINATION?”  The press and political pundits have already dropped out of the race before all the votes have been counted.  TIME Magazine’s cover story  is “And the winner is…” with a picture of Barack Obama.  The so-called experts have moved on to the question of will Obama beat McCain.  Yet, the reality is that neither Obama or Clinton have enough delegates to secure the nomination.  So, if Hilary is squeezed out of the race for the cause of “unity” within party ranks, the Democratic party can concentrate on ending the White House Republican regime.  Ignore the polls showing that the majority of democrats want the race between Hilary and Obama to continue.

I have a solution.  Since there is this urgency for synergy within party ranks to prepare for  McCain, let the movers and shakers call for Obama to drop out.  His lead over Hilary in the popular vote is like splitting hairs.  Super-delegates will pay attention to the popular vote.  John Edwards endorsed Barack Obama, which is not surprising at all.  Although Edwards made a number of gratuitous comments regarding Hilary, he stated he believed the “man” for the job was Barack Obama. Consequently, the super-delegates committed to Edwards may transfer to Senator Barack Obama.   The good old boys are squeezing hard. It is hard to believe that if Hilary were a white male with the same stats and prospects in the remaining primaries, there would be so much pandering and overt requests to just give up.

Clinton believes she may still win the nomination.  Clinton’s call for Michigan and Florida’s delegates to not only be seated, but their votes counted (representing over 2.3 million popular votes) during the DNC convention is controversial.   Obama was not on those tickets, so he will not get any delegates if these votes are counted.  This, according to some commentators, will not be fair to Senator Obama.  The rights of United States citizens to have their votes counted should not be balanced against what is fair to the leading candidate.  This Obamamania is starting to make some otherwise reasonable individuals delusional.  Since when are voting rights contingent upon how it will affect a candidate’s standing?  Well, the pressure is on to make one contender the winner.   The mele is politics-as-usual, whether Obama wants to admit it or not.

Those who still have to vote, do not fall prey to the influence of those who have already decided there is a Democratic nominee.  Know that your vote is supposed to count.  Media bias may dissuade some people some of the time, but it won’t fool all of the people all of the time.  The press will continue to distort commentaries to feed a spin–as in alleging that Hilary relied on working class people, white people, to get the win in West Virginia to substantiate the Clintons and their race card tactics–while the only people who will really pay the piper are the Americans who drink the kool-aid and fall for the hype.

Northwestern University Pulls Honorary Doctorate Degree Plan for Jeremiah Wright Off of the Table

by MullOverThis

I can’t say that I fully comprehend why Northwestern University has withdrawn its offer to issue Obama’s former pastor an honorary doctorate in Sacred Theology.  Mere controversy should not be enough reason to trump a man’s entire life’s work as a spiritual leader if Wright was honorary-doctorate-worthy prior to Obama’s campaign.    Wright’s recent behavior is considerably akin to that which he has always displayed–that of a captivating orator who does not query with militant truth telling, according to his perspective and experience.  So, Northwestern University may not have done its homework in fully investigating Wright and the manner in which he has contributed his body of work to religion.

The university’s withdrawal of the degree says a mouth-full about the import of honorary doctorate degrees in the first place.   It also speaks to the resultant public disdain from the current trend of religious leaders who talk too much in the press.  It must be difficult to eat one’s own foot in the mouth.  The reality is, if the public no longer respects a leader , the public will not receive that leader, or respect too much of what the leader has to say.  Although the weight of an honorary doctorate is overblown, had Wright been silent or at least put his public scathing on the back burner, he might have still gained the honorary degree and Obama might be doing better in the public eye.

Hopefully, our Pastors and leaders will focus on living the great life we have been called to live.  Pastor Wright would do well to spend less time in front of the cameras, as this is not a MLK moment for him to mobilize a disenfranchised people who just don’t “get it” when it comes to America.  All of the pedagogy in the world will not convince anyone.  What comes out of our mouths and actions speak volumes and will live in the minds of the public.  The last thing we need to see is Wright take his 15 minutes of fame and make it an hour long goof.

What Will Happen With McCain, Hilary, Obama and Wright

by MullOverThis

Reputedly, McCain’s campaign has counted Hilary Clinton out.  What a demonstration of pompousity to its height.  Or, maybe this is just the type of touting we can expect from two men who appear to be quite frustrated with having to take Hilary as a serious contender in the first place.  The Pennsylvania win and current edge Clinton has against McCain in some of the latest polls is not enough for McCain to consider.  But the latest AP poll showing Hilary has a nine point lead over McCain as the most likely President should not fall on deaf McCain ears.  Seems like the old boys network is tightening its ranks to squeeze Hilary out of the race, as momentum builds for her candidacy.  So the defection of a former DNC chairman super-delegate to endorse Obama is not a surprise.  The subtle impression these moves would try to give the public is that Hilary can’t beat McCain so why even pay attention.  But the reality is, she can beat McCain, and probably would fare better against him than Obama.  So to those who don’t have earplugs in while crossing a busy street against a red stoplight and the warning hand sign, don’t fall for the hype.  The boys feel the pulse of too much happening for Hilary that just may put her in the White House.

One thing we do know, either Hilary or Barack will have to bow out within the next few weeks.  The DNC Chairman has put up the flag and one of the hopefuls must quit to foster unity within party ranks to beat McCain.  I really don’t think this will be quite difficult, because once press coverage narrows to the Democratic candidate versus McCain, McCain own words will push voters to make sure we don’t have a borderline Alzheimers patient in office.  Even his honorable military service can’t justify the concept of 100 more years in Iraq.  Forget McCain’s temperament.  Something must be wrong upstairs to think that Americans will tolerate another term in Iraq, more or less another century, if necessary.  Hopefully, Americans will put someone in office who will have the wherewithal and  ability to get us out much sooner.

Hilary just needs to keep campaigning and focus on her agenda.  She does not need to capitalize on any Obama or McCain mishaps or blunders.  These gentlemen are about to box it out with one another.  Obama needs to focus on his campaign and issues that will repair the breach his comments have made against the working class.  There is no advantage, whatsoever, to dwell in  Pastor Wrightville and attempt to disassociate or denounce any of Wright’s statements or actions.  Obama, in my opinion, slaughters his own credibility by acting as if his former Pastor’s commentary and mentality is a news flash to him.  Again, no real-life church member sits and is an active part of a church for 20 years and does not know the heart and sentiments of the pastor.

If any one thing can be credited with reversing Obamamania,  Pastor Wright holds the winning ticket.  Pastor Wright feels the need to be as arrogant as he possibly can in providing pedantic context to his messages which he claims was discolored by biased repeated airings of sound bytes and edited clips.  This mission of Pastor Wright’s, of course, since he can’t even make himself appear to be humble, cannot wait until the criticism dies down so that Obama can begin to recover from public scrutiny for sitting under a man who can justify cussing from the pulpit.  And, Wright’s weak-kneed current attempts to cloak his inappropriate editorializations in the guise of the prophetic tradition of the black church is aggregious.

<object width=”425″ height=”355″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/2lV8x_-Uk2c&hl=en”></param><paramname=”wmode” value=”transparent”></param><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/2lV8x_-Uk2c&hl=en” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” wmode=”transparent” width=”425″ height=”355″></embed></object>

Although I may be young, I have been in the black church for almost 40 years.  This pulpiteering may have existed at Obama’s church, amongst others, but is by no means a tradition of the black church.  Here we have another decrepid use of the race card.  Most importantly, authentic prophets don’t take the time to keep explaining why they had to obey God and speak what they were ordered to speak, when it is real prophecy, particularly to an audience that has absolutely no ability to comprehend such an explanation.  So Wright needs to SIT DOWN and enjoy his retirement because this explanation is not cutting the mustard.

If Obama is to recover, he simply needs to keep campaigning and ignore Wright.

HILARY CLINTON: IT AIN’T OVER TIL THE FAT LADY SINGS

by MullOverThis

HERE’S A RE-POST OF A LETTER POSTED TO THE ARTICLE REFERENCED BELOW.  WITH PENNSYLVANIA UNDER HER BELT, CLINTON IS SURE TO STAY IN THE RACE UNTIL SHE CROSSES THE FINISH LINE.  IF THE SUPERDELEGATES ARE LISTENING, THEN CLINTON WILL TAKE THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION. ALTHOUGH OBAMA IS “THE MAN”, HAVING ACCOMPLISHED MORE THAN ANY OTHER AFRICAN-AMERICAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE IN AMERICAN HISTORY, I PRAY THAT THE WO-MAN, HILARY RODHAM CLINTON TAKES THE HELM OF THIS NATION IN JANUARY 2009.  AS I HAVE SAID UNTIL I’M BLUE IN THE FACE, SO TO SPEAK, “FLUFF ISN’T ENUFF”.  WE NEED MORE THAN INSPIRATION–WE NEED PROOF POSITIVE THAT OBAMA WILL BE THE NON-PARTISAN PRESIDENT TO MAKE CHANGE, AND HIS TACTICS IN HIS CAMPAIGN THUS FAR HAVE CERTAINLY FALLEN SHORT.

vlg1:10PMApr 24th 2008

OPEN LETTER TO NC and IN SUPERDELEGATES:

Dear Superdelegate:

As a fellow American who loves our country as you do, I am asking for your endorsement of Hillary Clinton prior to your state’s primary. I truly believe the events of the last few weeks have raised too many questions that need to be answered before Obama is ready to be President of the United States. The concerns related to his former pastor, as well as several recent statements that offended groups of Democrats in areas vital to a national win, are examples of political inexperience that will be fodder for the Republicans next November.

I fully understand that it was his pastor, not Obama himself, who made anti-American, racist remarks from the pulpit. However, it concerns me that Obama continued to attend, and to expose his young children, to such rhetoric. One of the strengths frequently touted about Obama is his good judgment, but this issue raises questions about his judgment.

Please understand that I am not suggesting that Obama himself is necessarily anti-American or racist. Rather, I’m saying that we just don’t know him well enough yet. I would have no problem voting for a Clinton/Obama ticket, where Obama would have eight years to demonstrate his abilities and his character.

In this important time in our nation’s history, we need more than the audacity of hope to make this transition to a new administration a safe and smooth one. We need someone who understands the political machine that is Washington D.C. and has the tools to work for change within that political machine. We need Hillary Clinton in 2008!

Thank you for your consideration of my thoughts.

Bush/Clinton/Bush/…

by MullOverThis

For those of you who said you don’t want another Bush in office, I guess that disqualifies Obama according to a genealogy report.  Obama appears to be related to both Presidents Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, President Ford, and General Robert E. Lee. McCain appears to be a part of the Bush family tree as well.

So if you are slightly disconcerted by the Bush dynasty’s reputed use of the US Presidency to secure its infinite wealth and power to the demise of hundreds of American lives (check out Michael Moore’s documentary Farenheit 9/11), you will be challenged to vote according to your convictions.  The report says that Obama is a tenth cousin, once removed, from his relatives, the Bushes.   I’d love to see a family portrait with Michele Obama, the budding Senator Obama, and both Bush Presidents.

Bilary just may take this!

OBAMA’S MOMENTOUS SPEECH-Genuine or Greasy?

by MullOverThis

Regardless of where one fares with whether Obama should be our next President or not, Senator Barack Obama’s speech was telling. Because of his diverse racial and ethnic make-up and up-bringing, clearly Senator Obama has an understanding and appreciation for race and its impact from a familial to institutional level in our country. HOWEVER, the empassioned truths that the dear Senator shared from his own life experience and reality may address, but does not answer or resolve, the fact that Obama is a member of a church with a Pastor who has on too many occasions made inflammatory racist remarks. This is a slippery move to align Senator Obama with the Black church and the Black community and explain why he cannot denounce Jeremiah Wright. Jeremiah Wright is not similarly analagous to the Black Community. Neither is Minister Farrakhan, one who Jeremiah Wright allegedly supports. Those who choose to sit under this type of leadership in a pastor make that choice. There are a plethora of politically astute Black male pastors who are empowering this generation to be effective citizens and fight against racism and do not employ language two notches below a good Nation of Islam speech, all in the name of Christ, to do so. Seems like Obama’s speech and its efforts were genuine and will log into the annals of time for great moments in American Politics. But, it was too greasy to stick regarding the Jeremiah Wright issue.

Obama CANNOT claim to be 20 year member of his church to authenticate his longstanding faith in Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world and not know the voice and messages that the pastor preaches/teaches. He cannot legitimately claim that he was never present and in being absent, be shocked and categorically deny the objectionable commentary by Jeremiah Wright. We are to believe that every time Obama’s pastor went off the meter, Obama just did not walk through the church doors. No one in their right or left mind, sits in a church for 20 years and does not know the message, heart, voice or vibe of their pastor and other spiritual leaders. Not unless you really weren’t at church in the twenty years, or you were doing like Bill Clinton and I did, taking naps in church.

So while so many of us were inspired by Senator Obama’s speech, the leap to connect the history and present racial animus in this country against Black people does not excuse Jeremiah Wright and his motivational messages birthed out of a real anger. Mr. no more politics as usual Obama needs to go back to the drawing board and practice being the different kind of politician that he says he is going to be as the agent of change, right now. Tell the truth Senator Obama. Your Black militant pastor has been militant, and you knew it. You could not choose your grandmother or your pops, but you can and did choose the pastor who teaches you, your wife and your children.

Obama’s knowledge of his Pastor’s sentiments does not mean that he completely aligns himself with them, he may just understand them and appreciate all of the other good that comes from listening to Jeremiah Wright’s messages. This entire pastoral relationship and slick defense of it by attaching the Black community as the band-aid, does lend some light to Michelle Obama’s slip a number of weeks ago, where she stated, “For the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m proud of my country…” The need to try to correct this Obamamania stump with the real and present “racism in America” issue while subtlely heightening the insensitivity of those who question Obama’s loud-mouth pastor who has crossed the line is disingenious in my opinion. Of course, I invite you to share yours…

WHERE’S THE BEEF BARACK?

by MullOverThis

I JUST VISITED BARACK OBAMA’S OFFICIAL CAMPAIGN WEBSITE.  NOTICEABLY ABSENT FROM WHERE HE STANDS ON THE ISSUES IS ABORTION, GUN CONTROL AND LGBT AGENDA.  THE SITE HAS A WELCOME FEEL, IS EASY TO TUNNEL THROUGH, AND MARKETS OBAMA WELL.  THE QUESTION REMAINS,

“WHERE IS THE BEEF, BARACK?”

HIS ECONOMIC PLAN IS INCREDULOUS IN LIGHT OF THE ERA OF CHANGE WE ARE TO ANTICIPATE.  HELEN KELLER KNOWS WE NEED TAX CUTS, MORTGAGE INDUSTRY FRAUD REGULATED, INCREASED EMPLOYMENT RATES, AND SO FORTH.   TO BRING CLARITY, EVERY ISSUE OUTLINED IS NON-SPECIFIC AND ATYPICAL OF A GLORIFIED COLLEGIATE ASSIGNMENT ON HOW TO IMPROVE OUR NATION’S (INSERT AN ISSUE HERE).

“WHAT HAS BARACK OBAMA DONE TO BRING CHANGE SO FAR?”

“WHAT IS BARACK OBAMA GOING TO DO TO RESTORE THE ECONOMY, END THE WAR AND MAINTAIN SECURITY WITHIN OUR BORDERS, BRING THIS NATION BACK TO GOD, FIGHT THE SPREAD OF AIDS, DEAL WITH DRUG TRAFFICKING, AND THE LIST GOES ON?”

OBAMA’S CLAIM TO HAVE BEEN INNOVATIVE IN CONGRESS THUS FAR TO CREATE BI-PARTISAN UNITY IS ALSO A JOKE.  MAYBE HE WILL BE ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH THIS WHEN HE HAS THE HIGH SEAT, BUT HIS CLAIM AND HISTORY OF DOING SO IS QUESTIONABLE.  JUST REVIEW HIS SUPPORT AND CONVENTIONAL DEALINGS WITH JOHN KERRY.

WHATEVER YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IN THE NEXT PRESIDENT, UNDERSTAND THAT THIS CHANGE FLUFF IS A DIVERSIONARY MARKETING STRATEGY FROM SOMEONE WHO HAS DONE NOTHING DISTINGUISHABLE FROM THE NORMAL POLITICAL MACHINE THAT HE IS VERY WELL A PART OF.  DURING AN INTERVIEW WITH CHRISTIANITY TODAY MAGAZINE, WHEN ASKED IF HE WAS FOR ABORTION, OBAMA REPLIED, “I DON’T KNOW ANYONE WHO IS FOR ABORTION.”  HE PROCEEDED TO REVEAL THAT ABORTIONS RATES SHOULD DECLINE AND DID THE VERY DOUBLE-TALKING THAT HE SAYS HE WANTS TO CHANGE.  OBAMA DOES NOT KNOW ANYONE WHO IS FOR ABORTION.  THE NEXT POTENTIAL PRESIDENT IS UNAWARE OF MILLIONS OF PRO-LIFERS AND ABORTION RIGHTS ACTIVISTS.  OBAMA DID NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION.  OBAMA DID NOT WANT TO ALIENATE A CHRISTIAN AUDIENCE, WHICH IS LARGELY AGAINST ABORTION.  IS THIS POLITICIAN’S RIGAMAROLE ANY DIFFERENT THAN ANYONE ELSE’S?

IF WE ARE SO CAUGHT UP WITH THE AGENT OF CHANGE AND NEVER GET CONCRETE VISION FROM THE NEXT POTENTIAL PRESIDENT, WE WILL HAVE NOTHING  TO WHICH WE MAY  HOLD HIM ACCOUNTABLE.

Three Kennedy’s Endorse Clinton

by MullOverThis

Regardless of where we go from here, either the first African American man or the first female will be Democratic nominee for President of the United States.  This is a great day in America when two generations ago, this was utterly impossible.  Certainly womens’ and civil rights movements have served to change the climate in America for the better, although we still have work to do in reaching the ideal where racism and sexism is non-existent.

While Obama is surging ahead to tighten the gap between Hilary and himself as the agent of change, some important news was lost in the flurry.  Three of Senator Robert Kennedy’s children–Robert, Kathleen and Kerry–support Hilary Clinton.  http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/31/us/politics/31text-debate.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=Robert+Kennedy%27s+children+support&st=nyt&oref=slogin   I’m not convinced that the Kennedys are the barometer for what is good or right in politics, but these Kennedy’s statements in preference for Hilary is what is telling.  After all of the motivation in the world, the pivotal question that needs to be answered is who is going to get the job done.   Obama says change is key.

What kind of change can we look forward to with Obama?  The kind of change that comes from retaining good counselors and speech writers.  Charismatic change.  Americans do not need to go to bed at night feeling good and inspired to get involved without any REAL change.  With Obama’s history as a public servant in Illinois and as a US Senator, what has Mr. Barack done that is substantially different than any other senator?  What exactly are Obama’s accomplishments that indicate he is not another spoke in the wheels of the political machine?   Please someone help me see the great change that has come as a result of Barack’s leadership.  Charisma and the ability to reach the masses is unique and critical.  But I don’t believe for one second it translates to effective leadership and transformation when it comes to the White House.  Action does.

This is the point that Senator Clinton made in reference to Obama’s MLK and JFK reach to believe beyond the norm.  Senator Clinton remarked that it took a president to get things done and a barage of criticism for racial bias ensued.  If Hilary Clinton were a smurf (merely a character) anything she says about Obama would be spinned and this is what is nasty and divisive.

The truth is there was no insensitivity towards MLK Jr. because MLK Jr. was not the Civil Rights Movement.  MLK Jr. joined a movement that already had national prominence before he arrived.  The work of Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, circuit court justices, civil rights attorneys and civil rights groups helped to provide a sweet context for MLK’s voice.  His voice was a voice of inspiration, unification and non-violent social change.  Surely his leadership and motivational style affected change.  However, it was one that sensibly epitomized the convictions of millions of Americans.  That is why MLK was supported.  All of the sit-ins, boycotts and freedom rides  provoked attention and compelled action because of the economic weight Black folks and our arms in the struggle brought to the forefront.  These actions would have been mere exercise if the President, and so many other politicians and legislators, did not enact and enforce laws and regulations to guarantee our security and entrance into a new era.  THAT IS WHAT TRUE UNITY IS ALL ABOUT. RECOGNIZING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF MLK JR. in a proper  perspective.  It took LBJ and the gamut of federal leadership to sign, authorize and approve laws and to use their authority to abate the wickedness of Jim Crow eighty years later.  The great national climate did not shift because JFK offered a butterfly soliloquy and locked arms with MLK.  White supremacists did not put down their hoses, stop burning crosses, cease race riots and using nooses, destroying Black owned property and businesses, raping Black women, murdering and lynching black folks and liberal Whites because they were motivated by some speeches.  They got arrested, tried, pushed back by federal troops, US Marshals, the National Guard and the whole nine yards.   Protection and the enforcement of laws came because politicians were part of the formula. Just as the stroke of legislative pens formally established color lines with the Black Codes and Jim Crow laws, it took the stroke of pens to erase them.  The climate is still shifting today because racism in America still exists.

What concerns me is this so-called movement for change, on a platform of nothing distinguishing Obama from his colleagues or predecessors.  This rhetoric is a smokescreen that is questionable in that we really need to examine what lies behind it.  This campaign strategy is brilliant because Americans may become more patriotic but when it comes down to it, some will fan the war that Obama and Hilary are against.  Patriotism is subjective and this reality is what will always present a divide.  Americans may unite in our love for this country, but what we love and do not love about America will never be agreeable to all.  The President’s job is not to over-import the role of national unity which oftentimes conflicts with what decisions are right for America.  This concept is a fairy tale.
