The Kim Kardashian Marriage Fiasco: What Most People are Missing

by MullOverThis

First, MullOverThis believes that when people marry, they should stay married, except there be some just cause for divorce or separation that justifies dishonoring the marriage covenant.  But everybody does not believe this.  Some people marry left and right, as often as a clean person changes undergarments.

What most people are missing is this:  Kim Kardashian is NO DIFFERENT than many of today’s women who get married.  While just about everyone is citing the number of days she managed to stay married, we need to look at the number of days most people who get annulments, stay married.  We can also examine the number of marriages that fail in less than 2-3 years from couples who cannot AFFORD to hire the best divorce attorneys and call in a moving team to take me to the east coast home, the mid-western retreat or the west coast home on the bay.  Kim is in the same position of women who say, “I do,” knowing that they “don’t” long before they arrive at the altar.

One of my friends had last-minute jitters right before her wedding.  She isn’t the number one celebrity featured on magazine covers in 2010, the queen of  reality television, and an appearance or photo shoot personality who commands millions of dollars each year.  This friend makes good mullah;   I invested almost $4,000 to participate in her wedding festivities, having split most of the bridal party costs with 5 other women.  The friend  spent ONLY $7,000.00 on her dress.  Her wedding festivities only cost around $85,000.00, and we won’t even address the comparable size and cost of her platinum wedding ring, all  kept to a reasonable amount because she and the hubby bought a nice home.  They wanted to be ”prudent”.  Look at one hand and add a couple of fingers.  This same amount of years later, although they are committed to working things out,  they often have near-Kramer vs. Kramer moments.

When I told the friend not to marry her husband because she really didn’t love him the way a wife needs to love a man for the rest of their lives, she told me it was okay.  Of course, she thought of all the work that had gone into the wedding, the public embarrassment, and all the things that really don’t matter when you find out you are living with someone that you may love, but are probably incompatible.  Too may women succumb to the pressure of age, the desire for babies, and to be socially acceptable in kidding themselves as they hyphenate their last names and sign on the dotted line.

I have another friend whose wedding day festivities were approximately $1.4 million dollars.  Her wedding ring cost over $100,00.00.  She is divorced today.  Wealthy people are not excluded from the same mistakes everyday people make.  They just tend to make them on a much larger scale and when they are famous, the entire world knows about it.

Yeah, Kim Kardashian is a brat and because of producers and cameras we can gaugue  all of her personal flaws.  The fixation the public has with her has made just about every private moment of her life profitable, to the point where this one is worth more tweets and headlines than addressing our nation’s economy.

P.S. A man, namely, Mr. Humphries, rushed to the altar, too.  That’s another post.

What Does Keith Koffler Eat For Breakfast?

by MullOverThis

This is a good question.  Being that breakfast, arguably, is the most important meal of the day and the saying goes, “You are what you eat,”  I’d like to know what Koffler ingests each morning.  This man surely has some balls.  He probably has a private chef that prepares him iced coffee, an oat bran/fruit medley parfait infused with whitey privilege hormones, a slice of  whole multi-grain toast, and a slab of beef served rare.

Anyone outside of the fashion industry who takes time to sarcastically report that Michelle Obama sported a $1,000 handbag and wants to claim he is a veteran White House reporter has done one of two things:

1.  Re-defined what we the people should expect from a White House reporter.  We expect the reporting of significant facts or even the spin and skewed slant a veteran reported should provide on newsworthy stories.  Being that gutter-ball reporting is now commonplace, the White House Dossier has complied with such standards and made non-issues an issue.  Example:  Previous First Ladies wore St. John’s knits like we change undergarments;  because Michelle Obama is more fashionable than any First Lady we’ve seen in quite some time, along the likes of Jackie O., her consumption choices are questioned, handbag and all.  It’s hard to just view the First Lady and smile when her expensive handbag is affixed to black arms/hands.

2.   Revealed he is inflicted with Whitey Syndrome.  Whitey syndrome is a complex condition,  only when viewed from the vantage point of whitey-possessed people.  Whiteys believe they are rational, level-headed, all-inclusive or reasonably exclusive, good-ole patriotic Americans who are at least 1/99999999 bars shy of registering as racists on the objective racist meter.  They do a good job of being undetected while white folks are in power, are the figureheads, and wear the expensive gear.  They love Black people-they adore Black folks and always have a best friend who is Black-so long as Black people do not prove to be superior and receive corresponding recognition, advancement and success that far outshines them.  They remain undetectable in manifesting symptoms until they must confront their greatest fear:  Today, Black people are just as brilliant and accomplished as white folks, even in the context of institutional racism and other adverse historic factors, and don’t need Whitey Syndrome infected people to do a darn thing to get where we want to go.  So long as Black folks don’t get ahead, or stay a split-hair behind whitey, Whitey Syndrome characters remain aloof.  Everything is fine, so long as Whitey does not have to look at President Obama and call him, “Massa.”

Mulloverthis suggests that the WHD get some Whitey Syndrome treated bi-focals, in the form of a right-winged African-American conservative reporter, to pre-screen his so-called White House concerns.  Whitey is incapable of being unbiased, particularly if his diet includes elements induced with whitey hormones.  Mr. Koffler needs to change his diet to include anything that kills white privilege so that we don’t have to anticipate any more bogus articles where he is least qualified to report on what Black caucus members say, the relationship African-American leadership has with President Obama, and presume as Whitey will, that of course President Obama will get most of the Black vote in 2012. What Koffler should spend time dissecting is this “all-in-the-family” branding as used in a Politico post he referenced:

Prominent black leaders — fearing Obama is not only taking them for granted but avoiding them in public — have turned up the heat on the nation’s first African-American president, transforming all-in-the-family concerns into open criticism of the president . . .

(An aside:  Did Koffler assume that Presidents Bush and Clinton would be elected because most white people would vote for them?)

Nuff said on this one.

Blogosphere Ridiculoid: The White House Dossier

by MullOverThis

K, folks.  This here is another dingy.

White House reporter, Keith Koffler, felt some newsworthy compulsion to report on Michelle Obama’s early arrival to the Presidential family’s Martha Vineyard vacation spot, costing taxpayers thousands of extra dollars.  Although I am not a fan of our incumbent President in any manner, whatsoever, other than he is handsome, this type of scrutiny upon the first family is absolutely ridiculous.

Michelle Obama is silent on her vacations, mostly, because she should be.  Hello ridiculoids!  She is the First Lady and we all know that she has to be more careful than any of her predecessors.  Black folks are not stupid.  Although we are making progress, this is still America.  Where is the Vice President’s publicized vacation schedule?  Hmmmhhh.  What is the distinguishing factor in expectation and treatment, here?  Might it be the desperation because of the state of our economy?  Keep searching folks.

Michelle Obama is not an elected politician;  The fact that her husband is, does not trump her decision to take her beautiful daughters and get out of dodge as soon as possible to ensure that everything is appropriate for her man, who happens to be our President.  The first family is not obligated to make their personal consumption choices based upon the state of the economy.  Before those two moved into the White House-and this may be real difficult for “concerned citizens” to accept-they were not broke and busted.  K?  Being the wife of the President of the United States should not be a step-down because ridiculoids have nothing genuine to report.  If Michelle wants to wolf down caviar, her decision to ingest it should not include what other Americans cannot afford to eat.  Her life is her life and she is here to live and enjoy it.

The reason why taxpayers have to pay extra loot in these circumstances is because it is customary.  Mrs. Obama-praise the Lord-travels with security and in Presidential style, as she should.

Now, while Mr. W.H. Dossier is counting how many days Mrs. Obama has been on vacation so far, when she doesn’t have an official political job or obligation to anyone other than her man and children (which should be her focus), I suggest that he re-direct his time to re-structuring his own commuting, vacation, and transportation choices.  Mr. W.H. Dossier would be a tad bit commendable if he commuted on the basis of what other Americans can afford, chose personal vehicle and address choices based upon how it looks for his constituents to see him live in such a trying economy and eat lunch based upon what extra costs his cost-conscious blog incurs when he is away from his desk too long, or has to tip a delivery person.

Mrs. Obama is part of the Washington elite, not a slave to all of sudden, cost-conscious, whining constituents.  Accept it, and look at the cost-effectiveness of the Pentagon and our National Security.  That’s where we can recoup billions.

On Zachery Tims

by MullOverThis

Pastor Zachery Tims is deceased and news reports have mentioned the presence of a white powder on his person, which is being tested.  So, the implication is that drugs may have been involved.  Additionally, news reports have succinctly described Tims as, “…pastor of New Destiny Christian Center in Apopka, Florida who divorced his wife over an affair with a hooker…”

I definitely have a firm resolve concerning Pastor Tims and the type of preacher he represents:  the man who loves God and does all that he can for people to improve their lives.  “The man” is where the murky area lies.  Regardless of one’s religious convictions or beliefs, at some point, we have to decide what is good.  I do not have the power to, or would even be willing to toss Tims or anyone like him to the dogs;  some people  do have a conscience but don’t realize how their decisions will affect them until it is too late.  God’s grace is sufficent to cover any one of us, even at the last minute.

Mulloverthis:

Is it possible to be a “good man” when you are unfaithful and dishonor your wife even in public?

Is it possible to be a “good man” when your decisions make your children fatherless?

Is it possible to be a “good man” because you have done so many great things for every one but the ones whose lives rely upon your “goodness” the most?

Does  a “good man” direct donation money to support a drug addiction?

Does a “good man” pay for hotels and  flings to accompany him with church money?

Can a man be a ”great man(d) of God” if he’s not even a “good man”?

Does the crackhead who steals from his family but helps an old lady across the street become a poor soul who is a good person?

Are we allowed to really draw the line between good people and not so good people anymore?

Do the concepts of CHARACTER, INTEGRITY, ETHICS, RESPONSIBILITY, RELIABILITY, THOUGHTFULNESS, AND CONSIDERATION for people other than oneself mean anything?

Nice people do not necessarily translate into good people.

Good people often have to do things that are not nice.

What a man does, speaks much louder to what is really in his heart, than mere words.

The sum total of one’s acts does not outweigh or define the essence of a man’s character.

Good will and good intentions can kill in the absence of good character.

God certainly uses people who have not always been good.  But, I haven’t seen one instance where God used people who did not turn away from their non-goodness to become more like God.  The admirable thing about Zachery is that even in all of his struggles, he had enough faith to try and help others.  Ultimately, there is no point in representing a Christ who cannot give us the power to live a good life, especially when we plaster our faces on signs as leaders qualified to show you the way.  ZTims is not isolated in this troubled preacher identity.  We do not need ANOTHER man, who cannot live a good life, to feel more for people than to seek care for his own life.  The Kingdom of God is not a crutch for preachers’ issues and does not belong to preachers.   Preachers, SIT DOWN.  TAKE A SEAT.  You are not that important to the world.  No, you are not.  God can use anyone else to do what you do.  Go somewhere and sit down until you can be restored.  No one can blame “the church” for a man’s destructive choices.  Ask every drug addict who now lives in victory.  We are not going to gloss over mess and memorialize it as something good to make people feel good.  We have too much in Christ to continue in sin, and think church leaders should live just like men who do not KNOW God.

If there need not be any moral distinction and culpability for the kinds of ills that one man’s life exudes to become a plague in other people’s lives, and lead without adherence to the standard of what is good and right, then we owe Bin Laden an apology.

The Help

by MullOverThis

I attended a pre-screening of DreamWorks Pictures August 10th film release  “The Help”.  This movie was hilarious!

Some notable thoughts:

1.  One of the film co-stars, Octavia Spencer, plays the character “Minny” and her performance reminds me of the “Dream Girls” Jennifer Hudson/Beyonce acting upstage.  Minny makes this movie all by herself, if that were possible.  Although Octavia isn’t the top billed actress, she does an outstanding job of bringing a Black woman’s “tude” to light.

2.  The Help’s  subject matter is the kind of stuff that could make Black folks mad once again.  However the writing, storyline and acting does a great job of making what could otherwise be weighty,  lighthearted, and does so without sacrificing the import of what Black women endured while working in a racist rural South.

3.  The Help is a bit long but doesn’t have one dull moment.  This is a clean movie that the entire family should see and prepare to have engaging conversation about racism, sexism and our nation’s history.

4.  Amidst the context of southern gentility riddled with racism and sexism, the feminine frailties prove strong enough to muddle through life as is, with alliances, allegiances and synergy where the story of The Help is ultimately told.  Cat fights are kitten fights in this film where all symbolic fingernails are in tact by the final scene and curtsey.

I hope The Help does well at the box office.  For more information, here’s the website:  www.thehelpmovie.com.

An Open Letter to Creflo Dollar

by MullOverThis

Thank you, Creflo, for revealing your feelings and suggested guidance for New Birth members who left Bishop Eddie Long and New Birth.  In doing so, you have also revealed a tremendous problem with the “Doc” syndrome and the boys club amongst pastors/preachers.   Please know that the problem has been forewarned to the Body of Christ in the Word of God, so many of us are not alarmed. Some of us are merely disappointed but will continue to be loyal to God, not the loyal to manipulative “game” Docs engage in, as demonstrated in your plea for New Birth members to forgive your friend.

First of all, Mr. Dollar, church loyalty from parishioners should never be based upon who is your friend, or not your friend.  THE BIG ESSENCE OF CREFLO DOLLAR and who you decide is friend-worthy does not credential or validate whether or not sound people with sound minds should pledge their allegiance to a pompous man who has not demonstrated a modicum of humility to the people of whom you expect loyalty. Pay attention Grand Super Doc, Creflo.  Your friend may still be going to heaven and is human just like the rest of us.  But, before he gets to heaven, he’s got some explaining to do to the Body of Christ.  When your super-buffed and wilfully dressed to show it friend cut the fool enough for him to squirmishly admit he wasn’t perfect, he admitted that there is some stuff going on.  We’d rather not have to know it, but since it amounted to lawsuits, Super Grand Doc, and he is supposed to be a Bishop, you know how this is supposed to work.

Is Dove’s Ad Racist?

by MullOverThis
WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU SEE?

WHAT MESSAGE DO YOU SEE?

This advertisement has stirred up quite a bit of controversy for Dove and the advertising agency that obviously doesn’t have enough Black or non-White executives to get an effective reading on the “racism” meter. Ridiculoids extraordinaire ought get some There Has To Be Racism de-programming.

Mulloverthis takes issue with the misreading and marking of this advertisement as racism on a few grounds:

1.  The presence of Black executives, or Latinas and the like, does not necessarily mean that the subtle and/or overt messages from advertisements will be non-racist, or are more likely to be non-racist when critical eyes will find racism in a banana peel.

2.  Had the voluptuous Black model been last and the Caucausion model been first (from left to right), then the critique from those who nourish themselves with Over-Black or Leftist Justice Juice would find the imagery relayed the “Black don’t crack” stereotype and complain about the that, when clearly, the before and after images of skin shows with Dove, skin-be it Black, Caucausion and the like-doesn’t crack or in more acceptable wording, “is smooth”.

3.  Alas, we get a full-figured Black woman with a full head of non-straight hair as a depiction of beauty, and bird-brains still cry wrong representation.

4.  The juxtaposition of the three models does not mean that they read in comparison to one another to assess the effectiveness of Dove upon the skin type based upon ethnicity or race;  The pre-programmed paranoid racist mind is trained to see that as opposed to seeing what Dove soap will do for three beautiful women (probably representative of any woman), varying in complexion, build, ethnicity and skin-type.

This type of hoopla is well within the trenches of ridiculousness.

Are advertisement executives supposed to create work product to cater to those who are so inundated with self-hatred that they would believe they would be more beautiful as they tranformed from a bigger Black woman into a smaller Caucasian woman with straight hair? Is this what the ad relays or what people who need self-esteem read?

Chill Berry in Harlem, New York

by MullOverThis

I have the grandest feeling that another sister is doing her thang and it will be monumental before she’s all done.  I remember when Carol’s Daughter was in its’ original place in Brooklyn and my sister-in-law used to stop by and pick up this superfantabulous body stuff before folks could pick up the stuff in reputable malls across this country.

Then, I remember when Make My Cake went from apartment sales  to a few stores in NYC.  Mulloverthis drives to get some of their red velvet, lemon, strawberry or any of her cakes.  Aliyyah, one of the proprietors, happened to grow up with one of my BFF’s and partied hard back in the day with my brother, at their mutual alma mater.

Now, it looks like the rustles of another NYC African-American female will ring loud as her frozen yogurt shop soon becomes a signature spot.  Chill Berry on Lenox (I think it’s between W130th and  W131st) in Harlem has some yogurt that is tooooo gooood for you to read about.  Just a stone’s throw from Sylvia’s, this small start-up spot has that finger licking good kind of dessert.  I personally loved the red velvet and cake batter flavors. But, what I loved more than that was the exuberance the young staff has in trying to pump this new business with grass-roots marketing and good old-fashioned neighborhood friendliness.

I know this new venture will last a while and might be the next best thing in Harlem because I saw three NYC squad cars pull up for officers to be refreshed with Chill Berry yogurt.  We all know cops know where to get good ice cream and nowadays, frozen yogurt.

The more and more I visit NYC and see what the new and revitalized Harlem has to offer, I think about what this black urban mecca used to be in the days of its’ glory and what it still is to its’ increasingly diverse residents.

When Chill Berry hits and pops up all over the place, remember the dream wouldn’t happen if another sister didn’t believe and try.  So, visit Chill Berry and enjoy what this store has to offer and meanwhile, pursue your own dreams and make life happen.

The Hollywood Whiteout for 2011 Academy Awards

by MullOverThis

Yada, yada, yada.

Whoopi Goldberg’s fluster on THE VIEW a few weeks ago drew attention to the New York Times article referring to the already existing buzz about the Oscars and the “whiteout”.  Although the NYT writers didn’t “omit” Whoopi from Black Oscar winner history, they did omit her from the article.

Yet, the question of racism and Hollywood’s inability to see Oscar-worthy performances amongst Black actors is looming.  And, this is a question that should be answered.

What were the Oscar-worthy performances from Black Actors in 2010?  Where is the list of historic films or performances from Black actors that bespeak of memorable art that have been whited-out?

Are the members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences supposed to nominate on the basis of racial equity, diversity in performances or on the basis of outstanding performances or achievements within their categories?

While the NYT article weaves the success of Obama’s candidacy and election in part to the influence of notable Hollywood performances by Black actors and all of this grandiose indelible history used as flim flam, the bottom line is:

Which specific Black actors or films have been snubbed because white racist eyes in Hollywood couldn’t see past Black skin to appreciate Black cinema or Blacks acting in any motion picture in 2010?

No doubt there is racism in Hollywood and all over this wonderful USA.  The struggle of Black actors to get the kinds of roles that can capture their ability and bring Black actors into the same range of acknowledgment as others is well-noted.  Strategies and tactics to eradicate these injustices are already happening to see progressive change-to a degree.  While the Will Smith’s, Halle Berry’s and Denzel Washington’s are few and far between, other Black actors are creating room for themselves and co-branding to keep afloat in the grind.

Meanwhile, what Black films, performances, or technical work that is of the industry’s best were snubbed or erased by Hollywood White racist power in 2010?

I’m just saying.  Mulloverthis.

Beyonce, Usher and Mariah Urged to Return Loot from Gaddafi

by MullOverThis

This call to action is replete with a pungent aroma of the nonsensical from ridiculoids with nothing better to do.

So now, articles are surfing around that Mariah Carey, Beyonce and Usher performed for the multi-billion dollar Gaddafi family at some point and received handsome checks to do so.  Since Nelly Furtado announced that she would donate her Gaddafi earnings to charity as a result of his recent execrable acts in Libya, reputedly music industry insiders are calling for these music icons to do the same: return their loot.

Looky here:

1. Gaddafi wasn’t a patron saint when Furtado or the rest of these artists traveled across the seas and performed for the family, in the first place. Hello, Muammar is one of longest ruling national leaders in history.  His regard as a terrorist might have a little something to do with this undeserving achievement.  Let’s face the fact that honor wasn’t the code of conduct for the initial wire transfers and Gaddafi’s flagrant demonstration that he will still drop a life in a second doesn’t change that.

2.  Dirty money doesn’t become dirty by post-dated acts, if it was “clean” enough to accept in the first place.

3.  Dirty money transferred while intrinsically dirty, becomes clean when transferred to honorable integral people.  Good Godly folks pray over their money/wealth/worldly acquisitions and sanctify it for good Kingdom use. Drug dealer gives money to mama and mama puts it in the offering plate and the food pantry feeds the homeless: Good ole sanctified money.

4.  The concept of music industry celebrities gaining wealth from unjust gain, a source that publicly oppresses people,  a world-wide bad guy, or from the wicked, need not begin without preparedness for a vitriolic discussion about the culture, climate, and the real in’s and out’s of the music industry.  There would be a whole lot of Kleenex and money shuffling to and fro.

5.  If these stars want to continue in their philanthropic efforts, they should do so of their own volition like Nelly Furtado.
